SMOKE OUT, INC. HOSTING FREE FAMILY FIRE SAFETY EVENT
BOSTON- OAK TREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- A local business is hosting a fire safety event that will be fun for the whole family on Tuesday, May 15, from 6-9 p.m.
Multiple families have been swept by a devastating number of fires within the past six months in a local Boston neighborhood. There is one locally-based business, Smoke Out, Inc., that has organized a fire safety event to help raise money for the families that have been affected by the recent events. Smoke Out, Inc. President Lee Williams said: “Smoke detectors save lives…period. We live in this community too and it breaks my heart that neighbors have lost loved ones, homes, and precious possessions unnecessarily. That is why we are holding this event – to try to keep it from happening to anyone else.” This free event will be held at Oak Tree Elementary School and the first 50 people will receive a free smoke detector; only one per family. There will be light refreshments provided, along with a silent auction and a fire truck with the local fire department. All proceeds from the auction will be disbursed to the families. The event schedule is as follows:
- Fire Safety: 6-6:30 p.m.
- Planning a Fire Escape Route: 7-7:30 p.m.
- Protecting your Home and Family: 8-8:30 p.m.
Join in this exciting family fun event with a growing number of surprises and guests you will not want to miss. Your children will be able to have their picture taken with Smokey the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog. There will also be a surprise celebrity guest that will be presenting at 8:30 p.m. You do not want to miss this event. Fire Chief Rick Ramirez encourages everyone to join in supporting the Oak Tree community he also mentions, “In light of recent tragedies in our neighborhood, this event is too important to miss.”
